Lighting Research Center

The Iowa Energy Center was a member-partner of the Lighting Research Center (LRC). The LRC and its subsidiary, the National Lighting Products Information Program (NLPIP), provide some of the nation's best objective sources of manufacturer-specific performance information on energy-efficient lighting products.

The NLPIP's lighting publications have, for years, been popular items, selling literally, hundreds of thousands of copies at up to $35 per issue. Through the Energy Center's partnership, we were able to offer these publications to Iowans at reduced costs. Now these publications are available free-of-charge at the NLPIP Website.

These publications contain independent evaluations of:

  • Hundreds of ballasts
  • CFLs
  • Occupancy sensors
  • Photosensors
  • Exit signs
  • Specular reflectors
  • Power reducers
  • HID and CFL luminaries and more.

Daylight Dividends
This program was developed by the Lighting Research Center to promote daylighting as a means of improving indoor environmental quality and to help remove the technological barriers toward the energy efficiency of daylight. The site provides case studies supporting the effective use of daylight in our offices, schools, hospitals, and retail establishments.
