The Iowa Energy Center’s Biomass Energy Conversion (BECON) facility in Nevada, Iowa, provides credible first hand information on the production of biomass fuels and chemicals.

To encourage the adoption of innovative energy solutions, the technology needs to be displayed and run in a near full-scale format. BECON provides researchers a venue to show pilot-scale biomass conversion facilities at work, and provides the atmosphere for gathering valuable economic and engineering data on biomass conversion to fuels and chemicals.
