Program Overview as of July 1, 2007
The Alternate Energy Revolving Loan Program was established in 1996 with funding from a three-year assessment, totaling $5.9 million, on the gross intrastate operating revenues of Iowa's investor-owned gas and electric utilities. Since that time, 74 renewable energy projects have been financed in Iowa with AERLP assistance.
The Energy Center began accepting applications in August 1996. To date, the program has received 153 new and 24 resubmitted loan applications that have led to 74 projects receiving funding. These facilities have an annual energy production equivalent to 1,714,715 MWh.
